Itinerary in detail

Every Vintage Africa trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

Day 1–2: Arrival in Nairobi

Start your journey in Nairobi, staying at Karen Gables, a colonial-style home surrounded by lush gardens. Spend your first evening relaxing and enjoying a gourmet dinner. On Day 2, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to learn about elephant conservation efforts, followed by a stop at the Giraffe Centre. In the evening, attend a presentation on Kenya’s groundbreaking conservation projects, gaining insights into the challenges and successes of protecting wildlife.

Day 3–4: Lewa Conservancy

Fly to Lewa Conservancy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and check into Lewa Kifaru House. Over the next three days, immerse yourself in conservation-focused activities, including rhino tracking with expert guides and visiting the Lewa Education Centre. Participate in hands-on projects, such as tree planting or supporting local community initiatives. Game drives will introduce you to the conservancy’s abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, and Grevy’s zebras. Evenings are spent enjoying al fresco dinners with views of the savannah.

Day 5–7: Maasai Mara’s Sand River Camp

Transfer to Sand River Camp, located within the Maasai Mara’s pristine Mara Conservancy. Explore the conservancy on game drives and learn about its community-led conservation model. Meet with local Maasai leaders to understand their role in wildlife protection and how sustainable tourism benefits their communities. During the day, spot iconic wildlife like cheetahs, wildebeest, and leopards. Optional hot air balloon safaris provide a breathtaking view of the reserve, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. Evenings are spent around the campfire, reflecting on the impact of your journey.

Day 8: Return to Nairobi

Conclude your safari with a flight back to Nairobi. Depending on your schedule, visit Kazuri Beads, a social enterprise supporting local women, or enjoy a farewell meal at a fine-dining restaurant.
